June Gloom
I swore I wouldn’t use that hokey headline and look here I am using it anyway.
I’m not actually gloomy. Pensive, maybe. (Pensive is my default.) But it’s a gorgeous grey morning in Los Angeles—June Gloom, they call it—and that’s the best I can come up with. I’d better send this sucker while it’s still overcast or I’ll feel like a complete dork.
I do love this weather. I went for a hike last night just as the evening gloom was glooming, and the temperature was perfect. I’m trying to revel in it before summer hits full on. Trying to appreciate what I’ve got right now.
Ugh.
Ricky and I have undertaken a creative project that is exciting and hard and very slow going. I'm trying to remind myself to be satisfied with increments. Not nag. Not beat myself up. Be satisfied with getting a little bit of work done every day.

This month in fashion: I wrote a piece for Racked about my $30 rubber Birks. YOU LAUGHED, BUT THEY ARE THE BEST SHOES OF ALL TIME
This month in home spa treatments: I’ve been doing this thing when I get home from yoga where I take my regular hot shower, soap up, wash off, all that, then I turn the faucet all the way to cold for a good 30 seconds, wheeeeee!, then back to hot, then to cold again, then to a kind of lukewarm to come to neutral before I get out. It feels amazing, and I’m convinced it’s good for my circulation.
