Flatforms, Friday Night Lights, and a new furry friend

Happy April !!! And: Holy Shit.

I did it, you guys. I managed to eke out a page a day. Or almost a page a day. I was on page 24 as of March 1, and yesterday I hit page 54.

For this first draft, I've been urging myself to WRITE LONG. Throwing out the conventional wisdom that a scene should be 1 1/2 pages long and just letting the action keep going.... Letting scenes go past when they should end and into something else interesting.... Or that's the idea, anyway.

This past week has been a challenge. I've been traveling for my day job, first to Seattle and now NYC, and if I didn't have you to report to I could have very easily let it slide. So thank you, you.

If I keep up the page a day -- and I will -- I'll have almost a draft by the time I leave for Cannes. Enough of a draft to know what this movie is.

*****

This month in fashion: I just ordered these flatform Tevas for traipsing around Europe. They'll either be FANTASTIC or horrifying. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

This month on Netflix: I've been slowwwly watching the last season of Friday Night Lights. I love it so much I don't want it to be over. What can I possibly move to after this? (Real question: Seriously. What should I watch?)

This month in tacos: I found tacos in Seattle! Tacos Chukis, which the Seattle Times describes as a hole-in-the-wall, is actually a clean, cheerful spot. They make a super delicious Adobada (aka Al Pastor) taco with homemade corn tortillas and the perfect avocado salsa, garnished with a slice of grilled pineapple. I also tried the mulita (okay, I tried two mulitas) and it was also fucking delish. Two tacos + two mulitas and I still didn't manage to max out my measly $11 work lunch allowance. I also didn't need to eat dinner.
